Films for 2017
Top picks of films due for UK release in 2017:

Dunkirk (Chris Nolan)

Untitled Paul Thomas Anderson Fashion Project
(PTA and Daniel Day Lewis again, sign me up. Might end up being 2018 though)

Silence (new Scorsese, out today)

Star Wars episode VIII

Alien: Covenant

War for the Planet of the Apes

Blade Runner 2049

Manchester by the Sea

La La Land (I'm not usually a big musical fan but Whiplash from the same director was so good, and Emma Stone & Ryan Gosling are disgustingly talented so it might work)

The Handmaiden (Park Chan-Wook)

Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle

T2 Trainspotting (slightly concerned about this though)

The Dark Tower (Stephen King adaptation)

Baby Driver (Edgar Wright new film)

The Death of Stalin (Armando Iannucci)

Happy End (Michael Haneke's new film, if it comes out this year)

You Were Never Really Here (Lynne Ramsay new film)

Toni Erdmann (critical darling on the festival circuit in 2016)

Elle (Paul Verhoeven + Isabelle Huppert)

The Zookeeper's Wife

How to Talk to Girls at Parties

Ghost In The Shell (seems to be blasphemous for fans of the anime but might be fun)

COMIC BOOK CORNER

Spiderman: Homecoming
The Lego Batman Movie
Justice League
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Wonder Woman
Logan (Wolverine)

And even though it's TV, a special mention to the new series of TWIN PEAKS. Which I can't wait for.

NOT looking forward to: yet another Transformers film, yet another Pirates of the Caribbean film, the Emoji Movie (yes, seriously), Power Rangers, Baywatch....

You cunts?

Yes, Baby Driver was my number 1 movie of 2017.

I really enjoyed Blade Runner 2049 as well though.

A film that sort of went under the radar that people haven't really mentioned is Wonder, which was another of my favourites.

I must have seen A Field In England about 5 times now and it gets better with repeated viewings. 'Baloo my boy, lie still and sleep. It grieves me sore to hear thee weep'.

Lovely!

Another vote for Hell Or High Water as the best film of last year too and I doubt I'll see a better film in 2018 than Three Billboards.

Baby Driver and Hell or High Water were a couple of the highlights of 2017.

Hell or High Water was last year wasnt it?

Had to be Get Out for me in 2017.

GOTG2, Wonderwoman, Padd 2 runners up.

mentions for Wind River, Baby Driver and Planet of the Apes

Mostly shit otherwise. Including Mother which was wank.

Yeah I read that as well but if so was poorly executed.

For me The Force Awakens, Blade Runner new, Dunkirk and Alien Convenant were all massive anti-climaxes.

Baby Driver and Hell or High Water were a couple of the highlights of 2017.

Re: Films for 2017
yeah quite possibly. Phantom Menace was worse but it was a fresh start. This had the previous film on the back of it plus the final scenes with Leia and Luke. It doesnt matter how good the next one is now, the trilogy will have this with these fucking stupid porgs all over it.

Most dissapointing movie I think I have ever seen after all of the set up from The Force Awakens.

Whilst I haven't got round to seeing that as of yet I read that it was meant to be a symbolism from the bible where the people invading the home were attacking mother! Earth as it were......

That was the message they buried in their but apparently didn't come across as well as they hoped. Having said that it had fairly good to average reviews.

High Rise was terrible.

So still no one seen Mother? Jesus I'll have to try and work it out for myself. Jennifer Lawrence has a great rack doesn't she?

Now people will watch it :-)

I liked Free Fire a lot. Loved that Saffa character. Imagine saying to the enforcer of the IRA 'don't you ever say please? I know you don't get on with the British but maybe you could have learned some manners from them?'

Or

'You distract them with your witty badinage and I'll escapeā€
